Wise with Honesty
My sister was sharing with me about someone in her office getting sacked by the civil service. The reason being that she LIED and made up a story to cover up her mistake.
Lying for the sake of disclaiming your own mistake is unacceptable. Nothing is more important than Integrity and this is one of the most core values that parents should inculcate in their child from young. Do not be surprised to meet people who enjoyyyyyyyyyyy lying. I have met people that urged their friends to lie and to them, their 1st solution towards any problem is LYING. To me, an adult with no integrity fails miserably in life and please do not link liars together high-education & civilisation. A scholar and public servant that lacks honesty is nevertheless, more unforgivable than anyone for being horrible role models.
Despite the fact of existence of such terrible people in the world, the more common reaction how a person will deny his mistake is to Give Excuses. Despite already knowing that they are at fault, they would say "No what... I bla bla bla bla bla.....". When the conservation continues and slowly brew into argument, they will still go on with "But... I bla bla bla bla bla......". The fundamental skill of an excuse-giver is to shut the opponent up and have the last say no matter how illogical and how "excuse" his excuse can be. And rename your "excuses" as "reasons".
Howbeit this is not as horrendous as lying but it is also nothing wonderful to do. Think, how likable is someone when the entire world knows that he is wrong and knows that he is aware of it himself but he refuses to admit.
However smart you are at delivering smart excuse, you are definitely not wise because a person is most charming and wise when he listens and learns without talking back.
