4th Is Important Too!!!
I was watching Li Jia Wei's Semi finals matches today in NUS and at home. I spotted the word "稳"(aka Steady) written in ink on her palm. Very Interesting! :)
By the way, like in Athens Olympics, she lost both semis and ended 4th in this Olympics. But but but... All Singaporeans don't worry ar, we lost also lost with pride cause we did put on very close fights with the Chinese!!! Feng Tian Wei's quarterfinal match against World No. 1 was the closest fight ever and I witnessed the China coach sweating his nerves out. China still edged out but they are very wary of us in future matches.
As for Li Jia Wei's singles, we are still top 4. Not bad ar!!! Although only the top 3 officially receive medals, 4th place has also have medal. Gold, Silver, Bronze.... Ours is Invisible Colour, the most difficult to be seen and thief cannot steal!!! BEST!!! We are still "ON TOP" ar, do not think only medals recipients are fantastic, 4th place is a very important position to be honoured too. We represent a potential threat to the medal recipients and 4th place is not 安慰奖. If you really want to call it 安慰奖 then you should actually swing to the extreme and call Silver & Bronze 安慰奖 too.
Oh ya, just wanna clarify another issue. When Singapore did not win any medal, some Singaporeans will critcise our athletes for the lack of mental stamina. Now we finally won one medal, other Singaporeans also argue over the same old topic about the winners are imported and not born locally.
It is OK ar... It Does Not Matter where, how and when you are born, full-grown baby, pre-mature baby or test tube baby, As long As you put on Singapore flag on your shirt, YOU WILL FIGHT FOR SINGAPORE!!! This is not much an issue.
Anyway, Tan Howe Liang was also born in China. No one remembers, No one knows so no one says. If anyone want to argue over this boring topic again, they should rewind to 48 years back and start the story. Wanna start from 100 years back when Stamford Raffles founded Singapore also can... :)
But I don't wanna hear. :)
